I have recently joined the Korcsmaros group as a computational biologist PhD student. My PhD is a collaboration between Imperial College London (London, UK) and Unilever R&D (Port Sunlight, Liverpool, UK).
The focus of my PhD is to understand with in silico methods the effect that metabolite-host interactions have on signalling within the host cells. This involves leveraging systems biology to model the downstream host signalling pathways from metabolite-receptor interactions. The focus of these investigations will be the metabolic dysbiosis of the gut microbiome in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and the effect of metabolic changes in the skin microbiome.
Previously, I was a Bioinformatics master’s student at the University of Manchester (UK) where I did two projects. The first used flux balance analysis to predict the metabolic differences between healthy and IBD patients based on the metagenomics of their gut microbiomes. The second developed a methodology to identify species from their collage mass spectrometry fingerprint using their known sequence information.
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, playing football, squash and running.
